Live Wallpapers on macOS 27
macOS 27 changed how moving lock screen wallpapers are installed, which stopped them working. This version brings them back, and never asks for your password.
Every version of macOS moves some furniture. macOS 27 Golden Gate moved the lock screen.
Apple's own Golden Gate wallpapers, the bridge at sunset and at night, are still pictures. Getting a moving one onto your desktop or lock screen takes an app, and on macOS 27 it takes a current one: Apple changed how these wallpapers are installed, and the old way stopped working for everybody.

How It Works on macOS 27
Pick a wallpaper and it is on your lock screen straight away. No trip through System Settings, no extra step to find it again and choose it.
macOS also decides to reset your lock screen choice from time to time, on its own. Wallper notices and quietly puts yours back.

No Password, Nothing Left Running
Setting a lock screen wallpaper never asks for your password, and nothing is installed to run in the background afterwards.
We think that deserves as much credit as the playback does. An app whose entire job is decoration should not be asking for the keys to your Mac, and it uses Apple's own wallpaper system rather than working around it, which is also why your wallpaper is still there after a restart.

The back button in the toolbar could get stuck twitching instead of animating once, which it now does. And a batch of unnecessary redrawing is gone, which is a little less work for your Mac and a little more battery left over.
