Uploading to Wallper: Community Video Guide
Wallper’s Upload page lets Pro members contribute looping videos to the community library — and manage everything they’ve submitted in one place. This guide covers uploading, file requirements, the moderation process, and how to use declined items locally via Explore → My Media.
Quick start (TL;DR)
- Click Upload in the top bar of the app.
- In the upload window, drag & drop your file or click to select it.
- Fill out: Category, Age rating, Author, and a Title (≤ 32 chars).
- Click Submit for Moderation.
- Track your item at the bottom of the page: Pending / Success / Declined and see likes for approved uploads.
- If a video is Declined, you can still use it locally via Explore → My Media.
Who can upload
- Pro members only. Community uploads require an active Wallper Pro license.
- Local use is separate. You can always add your own files locally via Explore → My Media.
File requirements (must-read)
- Format: MP4 only
- Max size: ≤ 500 MB per file
- Best results: H.264 or HEVC, 24–60 fps, seamless loop if possible
- Audio: Ignored (wallpapers are always muted)
If your file isn’t MP4 or exceeds 500 MB, compress or re-encode before uploading.
The Upload page, explained
1) The top bar
Tap Upload at the top of the screen to open the upload window.

2) The upload window
Drag & drop your MP4 file onto the drop zone, or click the drop zone to browse and choose a file.

3) Required details (metadata)
After selecting a file, add:
- Category — Helps people filter and discover (e.g., Nature, Cars, Games, Abstract).
- Age Rating — Choose an appropriate rating (e.g., 12+, 16+, 18+).
- Author — Your display name or creator handle.
- Title — Up to 32 characters. Make it clear and searchable (e.g., “Neon Rain Alley – Loop”).

4) Submit to Moderation
Click Submit. Your video appears in the bottom panel with a Pending badge.

5) Track review & likes
Check the bottom submissions panel: each item shows Pending / Success / Declined and (for approved items) a like counter.

What happens after you upload
Moderation workflow
When you submit, your video enters a Pending review by the Wallper team. We check:
- Content suitability — No nudity/sexual content, graphic violence or hate symbols, illegal/dangerous activities, harassment or doxing.
- Copyright & ownership — You must own the rights or have permission. No re-uploads without explicit permission.
- Quality standards — Clean loops when possible; adequate resolution/bitrate; minimal artifacts/banding/flicker.
- Technical compatibility — MP4 container, ≤ 500 MB, plays smoothly on current macOS.
If approved
- Status changes to Success.
- Your video appears in the Community Library.
- It starts collecting likes, visible in your submissions panel.
If declined
- Status changes to Declined (not publicly listed).
- You can still use it locally via Explore → My Media.
- Fix issues (size/format/loop/content) and re-submit anytime.
Detailed step-by-step
- Prepare your file — Ensure MP4 and ≤ 500 MB. Recommended: HEVC (H.265), clean loop export.
- Open the Upload window — Click Upload in the top bar.
- Add your file — Drag it into the drop area or click to select from disk.
- Fill in metadata — Category, Age rating, Author, Title (≤ 32 chars).
- Submit — The item appears below with Pending status.
- Track status — Watch for Success or Declined; likes show on approved items.
- If approved — It’s published to the Community Library for everyone to discover.
- If declined — Re-encode or adjust and re-submit, or use locally via Explore → My Media.
Tips for fast approval & better results
- Keep it subtle. Calm, ambient motion works best for wallpapers.
- Loop cleanly. Align start/end frames or add a gentle cross-fade.
- Balance bitrate & size. Aim for crisp detail without exceeding 500 MB.
- Name it well. Clear ≤ 32-char titles improve discovery (subject + vibe, no hashtags).
- Avoid overlays. No watermarks, ads, or captions.
- Stay SFW. When unsure, pick a higher age rating or edit borderline content.
Status badges you’ll see
- Pending — Your video is in the moderation queue.
- Success — Approved and visible in the Community Library.
- Declined — Not published; you can revise and re-submit, or use locally in My Media.
Likes & visibility
- Approved videos can receive likes from the community.
- Your per-video like count appears in the submissions panel and may improve discovery over time.
Common reasons for declines (and fixes)
- Wrong format / oversize → Re-export to MP4, compress to ≤ 500 MB.
- Choppy or jarring loop → Align start/end or cross-fade slightly.
- Heavy artifacts / banding → Increase bitrate or apply light denoise before export.
- Sensitive / NSFW content → Remove or rate appropriately; some content isn’t eligible for public listing.
Privacy, ownership, and takedowns
- You retain ownership. By uploading, you grant Wallper the right to display/distribute the video within the app’s Community Library.
- DMCA & policy. Items may be removed after approval if we receive a copyright complaint or detect a policy violation.
- Removal requests. You can request removal of your own item; changes may take effect after a short delay.
Local use if your upload is declined
- Open Explore → My Media.
- Add the same MP4 file locally.
- Set it as wallpaper for any display — it won’t be published to the community.
Best practices for creators
- Export smart. HEVC (H.265) often matches quality at smaller sizes vs. H.264.
- Mind motion & noise. Gentle movement and light denoise compress better and loop cleaner.
- Color & brightness. Avoid flicker; keep luminance stable across the loop.
- Frame rate. 30–60 fps is a sweet spot for motion clarity without ballooning size.
Summary
- Upload is in the top bar.
- MP4 only, ≤ 500 MB, Pro only.
- Provide Category, Age rating, Author, Title (≤ 32 chars).
- Moderation checks content, quality, compatibility.
