Async wallpaper install — no more UI freeze when you hit Set as wallpaper.
-
Preview generation moved to the backend for more stable, consistent thumbnails.
-
Everyone with an expired trial gets one more free week.
Experience & automation
-
Autostart can be requested on first launch and enabled automatically right after install.
-
When Wallper starts with the system, the main window stays hidden for the first ~60 seconds so the desktop stays clean.
-
Default behaviour: wallpapers are turned off when your Mac is running on battery power.
-
Notification permission prompt is shown in a more meaningful moment to actually improve the experience instead of annoying you.
Screen saver & wallpapers
-
Screen saver on macOS 26 is now properly integrated, using Apple's new aerials catalog.
-
Legacy screen saver handling on macOS < 26 is partially fixed and much more reliable.
-
Wallpaper installation pipeline has been reworked to avoid blocking the main thread.
-
Reduced chance of black screens when applying new wallpapers or switching modes.
Performance, stability & networking
-
Heavy settings sync was refactored to be more robust and less error-prone.
-
Internet and network usage was cleaned up so background requests are leaner and less chatty.
-
Wallpaper install operations now run asynchronously, keeping the app responsive while work happens in the background.
-
Overall app responsiveness is improved, especially when quickly switching wallpapers or views.
Explore, cards & UI polish
-
Explore tab received a visual refresh and subtle animations for a more alive browsing experience.
-
Card logic was rebuilt: hover, preview and actions now behave more predictably.
-
Fullscreen view launch is slightly delayed so transitions look smoother and less jarring.
-
Multiple toggles in Settings were fixed so they correctly reflect the actual state of features.
Uploads, previews & trial extension
-
Upload and publication of wallpapers has been fixed and stabilised end-to-end.
-
Preview thumbnails are now generated differently and stored via the backend, improving consistency across devices.
-
All users who previously ran out of trial get an extra 7 days to try Wallper again.
-
If your trial already expired, just update and restart the app — the new trial window will be available.
