The app ships as a universal binary, so it runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. The minimum is macOS 14.6 Sonoma, and we actively test on the two most recent major releases.

Animated lock screen wallpapers need more than that: macOS 26 or later, because earlier versions of macOS have no way to show a moving lock screen at all.

On Apple Silicon you get hardware‑accelerated HEVC and H.264 decoding, which is why 4K playback barely registers on the CPU. On Intel Macs with discrete GPUs the cost is slightly higher but still well below what a typical screensaver would consume.
