Lock Screen with Wallper
Wallper is the first and only app to bring truly native live wallpapers to the Mac Lock Screen. We integrate at the system level and hand playback to Apple’s own Lock Screen pipeline—no overlays, no daemons, no workarounds. It looks and feels built-in: smooth motion, low CPU, and behavior that matches macOS exactly. Setup is quick and fully reversible. Lock Screen video playback currently requires macOS 26 or later.
Safety & permissions
- No background daemons. We don’t install launch agents or kernel/system extensions.
- Private & local. Your videos stay on your Mac; processing uses system decoders for efficiency.
- Compliant by design. We follow macOS rules and rely on Apple’s pipeline for lock-screen playback.
How it works
- If you’re on macOS 26 or later, follow the guide below. On earlier macOS versions, Lock Screen video isn’t supported — you can still use Wallper for live desktop wallpapers.
- Follow the step-by-step guide. We’ll walk you through permissions and setup.
- Pick a scene in Wallper. We handle resolution, color, and timing automatically.
- Done. The Lock Screen is set.
Step-by-step setup guide (macOS 26+)
1) Enable Lock Screen integration
Open Wallper Settings and toggle on Use Lock Screen & Screensaver. This grants Wallper permission to seamlessly integrate with the macOS Lock Screen subsystem.

2) System Settings — Wallpaper
Navigate to System Settings → Wallpaper. Scroll down to locate the Wallper extension block. You may see a generic "Extensions" icon here initially—this is normal.

3) Set Wallpaper
Return to Wallper and set any scene as your wallpaper. Just click Set as Wallpaper on your desired video, exactly as you would for your desktop.

4) Wait for processing
Wallper will automatically process the video for Lock Screen compatibility. This usually takes a few seconds. You'll see a progress indicator, and the video will be installed once complete.

Success!
That's it! You never need to do this again. Future wallpapers will automatically format and apply to your Lock Screen the moment you set them in the app.
